Lucas Bertram grew up in Climax, Saskatchewan, and is a full-time rancher and trainer. He enjoys starting colts and working with roping horses and problem horses.
Growing up with his grandpa’s horses, Lucas developed a passion for them at an early age. He further honed his skills by working for community pastures for five years, and with different trainers in the winters, including Clint Christianson and Dwight Dokken.
With over 13 years of experience in starting colts, Lucas finds joy in the challenge of figuring out each horse’s unique personality. His approach to training colts is both humane and effective.
Bertram focuses on taking things one step at a time, doing a little bit more every day until the horse is soft and responsive. With Lucas’s dedication, patience, and fondness for the animals, it’s no surprise that he has become an expert in his field.
